this is the perfect book to share with younge children. it may be intended to be read by children but i am in eighth grade and still love it. if you are looking for a funny, entergetic, and family friendly story then you have found one in alice in wonderland. i give this classic tail five stars and two thumbs way up.
alice in wonderland is about a girl that falls in a hole and goes into this magical world. i think "alice in wonderland" is an ok book for my age if you like fantasy books. you may not like it because nothing makes sense. for example, they have a trial where the witnesses don't know about the crime and the judge says to the jurors, "that's important!" but the rabbit corrects him. i think it would have been a better book if i was 7 and my mom was reading it to me right before bed. the only problem with that is that younger kids might not understand much of the vocabulary but they might still enjoy it if you explain the words to them. if you're an adult and want a good book for your 5, 6 or 7 year old, i recommend alice in wonderland .
this is a story about a special and unreserved woman who has been exposed to a hostile environment but continuously and fearlessly struggling for her ideal life.
the story can be interpreted as a symbol of the independent spirit.
it seems to me that many readers’ english reading experience starts with jane eyer.
i am of no exception.
as we refer to the movie “jane eyer”, it is not surprising to find some differences because of its being filmized and retold in a new way,
but the spirit of the novel remains----to be an independent person, both physically and mentally.
jane eyer was a born resister, whose parents went off when she was very young, and her aunt, the only relative she had, treated her as badly as a ragtag.
since jane’s education in lowwood orphanage began, she didn’t get what she had been expecting——simply being regarded as a common person, just the same as any other girl around.
the suffers from being humiliated and devastated teach jane to be persevering and prize dignity over anything else.
as a reward of revolting the ruthless oppression, jane got a chance to be a tutor in thornfield garden.
there she made the acquaintance of lovely adele and that garden’s owner, rochester, a man with warm heart despite a cold face outside.
jane expected to change the life from then on, but fate had decided otherwise: after jane and rochester fell in love with each other and got down to get marry,
she unfortunately came to know in fact rochester had got a legal wife, who seemed to be the shadow following rochester and led to his moodiness all the time ----rochester was also a despairing person in need of salvation.
jane did want to give him a hand, however, she made up her mind to leave, because she didn’t want to betray her own principles, because she was jane eyer.
the film has finally got a symbolist end: jane inherited a large number of legacies and finally returned.
after finding rochester’s misfortune brought by his original mad wife, jane chose to stay with him forever.
i don’t know what others feel, but frankly speaking, i would rather regard the section that jane began her teaching job in thornfield as the film’s end----especially when i heard jane’s words “never in my life have i been awaken so happily.
” for one thing, this ideal and brand-new beginning of life was what jane had been imagining for long as a suffering person; for another, this should be what the audiences with my views hoped her to get.
but the professional judgment of producing films reminded me to wait for a totally different result:
there must be something wrong coming with the excellence----perhaps not only should another section be added to enrich the story,
but also we may see from the next transition of jane’s life that “life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you would get.
” (by forrest gump’s mother, in the film “forrest gump”)
what’s more, this film didn’t end when jane left thornfield.
for jane eyer herself, there should always be somewhere to realize her great ideal of being independent considering her fortitude,
but for rochester, how he can get salvation? the film gives the answer tentatively: jane eventually got back to rochester.
in fact, when jane met rochester for the first time, she scared his horse and made his heel strained, to a certain extent, which meant rochester would get retrieval because of jane.
we can consider rochester’s experiences as that of religion meaning.
the fire by his frantic wife was the punishment for the cynicism early in his life.
after it, rochester got the mercy of the god and the love of the woman whom he loved.
here we can say: human nature and divinity get united perfectly in order to let such a story accord with the requirements of both two sides.
the value of this film may be due to its efforts to explore a new way for the development of humanism under the faith of religion.
the story is mainly about the beautiful mathilde, but because he was poor, he could not marry a good family. finally he married a small clerk in the ministry of education. mathilde later borrowed a diamond necklace from a friend in order to show his presence in a department dance. however, after the misunderstanding came back, i found the necklace missing. so, in order to redeem the necklace, mathilde spent ten years of youth and effort, but finally realized that the necklace was actually a fake.
poor marty! just for a diamond necklace, she gave her ten years of youth. ten years later, she was no longer young and beautiful anymore. in maupassants words, she lost the only capital to be a lady. she sacrificed her youth for this diamond necklace. in fact, in other words, she does not have to pity her. her excessive vanity leads her to taste the bitter fruit of fate. but what is gratifying is that mathilde came to maturity after all the hardships.
after reading the story, everyone might think that all the evil results were caused by the vain love of rosse wahl, so she was not worth the pitiful, even a bit of mockery in the laughter. but, the mind slowly fluttered out a question: what was the power of a delicate and delicate woman who would choose to repay the road? they had no hesitation, and they quietly chose a thorny way of life to walk each day with their lips. hard labor and life drew back her unrealistic fantasies from the clouds to the solid ground. at this point i could not help but applaud rosa wahl.
at this time, in my mind, when rosse wahl told his friend ten years later to confess that the necklace was the other one, she had a smile of pride and innocence. perhaps this was the most beautiful smile in the world. although luo sewalls appearance had not been bought in the year, she had a self at this time. respecting the noble spirit. in the balance of beauty and personality, she did not hesitate at all, and said decisively, "return!"
after the necklace is lost, the two codes of youthful beauty and dignity are placed on the balance of life, forcing her to make a choice. she decided to give up her youth and choose dignity. the most important moment in life is to learn to give up and give up is also a kind of beauty. so is it very small for her to "destroy" her or to fulfill her? at first, mathilde was captured by a strong and fearful vanity. later, she made a surprising decision without hesitation. finally, when she met her friend who was still young and beautiful, when she learned the truth about the fake necklace, she had a bright and innocent smile on her face. the smile was her confidence and pride.
the novels thought-provoking part is that we have seen a heart of gold in a dirty, false, worship society, a lotus flower that is not dyed with mud. unfortunately, mathilde was unfortunate that she was unfortunate to add trouble to what she couldnt get, and she was a lucky man, the cruel reality made her sober, life was not just the illusion of the fog, but more step by step.

one of dickens most enduringly popular stories is oliver twist, an early work published 1837-8. like many of his later novels, its central theme is the hardship faced by the dispossessed and those of the outside of tolite society. oliver himself is born in a workhouse and treated cruelly there as was the norm at the time for pauper children, in particular by bumble, a parish council official or eadle the story follows oliver as he escapes the workhouse and runs away to london.
here he receives an education in villainy from the criminal gang of fagin that includes the brutal thief bill sikes, the famous artful dodger and nancy, bill whore. oliver is rescued by the intervention of a benefactor - mr brownlow - but the mysterious monks gets the gang to kidnap the boy again. nancy intervenes but is murdered viciously by sikes after she has showed some redeeming qualities and has discovered monk sinister intention.
the story closes happily and with justice for bumble and the cruel monks who has hidden the truth of oliver parentage out of malice. accusations were made that the book glamorised crime (like the ewgate group of the period) but dickens wisely disassociated himself from criminal romances. his achievement was in fact in presenting the underworld and problems of poverty to the well-off in a way rarely attempted previously.
jane eyre gives me much useful inspiration after reading it.
i respect jane eyre's independence and i am most impressed by the true love between jane eyre and mr. rochester who was a poor blind man, twenty years older than her. jane eyre never felt herself inferior as a tutor before mr. rochester and gained an equal status. she had lofty sentiments and was pure in mind.
she had not been contaminated by common customs, so mr.rochester was attracted by her independent personality and falling love with her. in the story, jane eyre dismissed the chaise and driver with the double remuneration, which reflected her determination to come back to mr. rochester. she did not know whether mr. rochester was really there, but she still groped about in the twilight and came to the desolate house.
she missed him that much. she only hoped that mr rochester let her live with him even if she found mr rochester blind and mutilated. mr rochester became extremely excited when he heard and felt his beloved jane was still living.
he suggested that jane marry one of the other young men because he thought himself as a sightless block. but he also showed his jealousy when jane talked about st. john's proposing marriage. all in all, mr. rochester was always loving jane deeply. mr. rochester once exclaimedjane, jane!janeand jane heared rochester's voice calling to her. her voice replied,i am coming. wait for me i think these are the call of love and the answer of love.
later on, after their marriage, mr.rochester miraculously regained his sight and lived happily with jane. personally, love can fasten the hearts of lovers tightly. love is beyond time and space and the miracle of love can lead prayers to become reality.
before reading this novel, someone tells me it is very interesting, so i started to read this book with expectation and curiosity. and after iwas through with it, i was full of respect to the author.
the novel described a girl, called dorothy, was blew into an unfamiliar land which was far away from her hometown. then she tried to find the way home and finally she made it. during her journey, she experienced a lot.
to be honest, the author is really full of intelligence. his thought is so special that the plots are absolutely beyond my imagination. but it didn't surprise me when dorothy killed a wicked witch by accident, because every novel could start a story with such unusual coincidence. however, the next happened were really out of my expectation. first of all, dorothy's comrades were deadfully strange. for example, the scarecrow could speak ,walk and think, it is surprising, after all, his head was stuffed with straw, and just with eyes , nose as well as mouth painted on it to represent a face. it was even more surprising when changed new straws, he was still himself. he went to find the great oz because he wanted the great oz to give him some brain so that he wouldn't be laughed at by others and could do anying like a real man. the second was tin woodman, and his experiences were miserable. he fell in love with a beautiful girl and worked hard for their marriage, but the wicked with wanted to take them apart, so she cut off his legs ,arms head and heart one by one through using her magic. however, he was rescued by tinsmith, who made everything he lost out of tin but heart. so he was urgent to get a new heart. the third was a lion, and in our thought ,lions were expected to be brave and full of right, but this lion was as coward as a mouse, so he joined dorothy to get some courage.
the most wonderful thing beyond my thought was the great oz. it was said he was so great that was capable of doing everything.but actually, he was a humbug.this really disappointed them, because their wishes might not be satisfied. however, the humbug managed it because he knew they have already got what they wanted during the journey. here were some evidences. when every time they met trouble, it was scarecrow that came up with good ideas and helped them out; when every time they met monstrous beasts, it was the lion that stepped ahead and protected them. besides, the tin woodman was the one who was always kind to small animals and was sure to cry when he saw others' misery. the only they didn't obtain was confidence. so the humbug gave them confidence by using tricks.
there are some sentences i want to share with you:"no matter how dreary and gray our homes are, we people of flesh and blood would rather live there than in any other country,be it ever so beautiful. there is no place like home." "experience is the only thing that brings knowledge and the longer you are on earth the more experience you are sure to get." "there is no living thing that is not afraid when it faces danger. the true courage is in facing danger when you are afraid."
this book really worth reading.
